Locust is short-horned grasshoppers with strong power of flight. Locusts are slightly larger than other grasshoppers in size. These insects can fly hundreds of kilometers in swarms and easily cross national boundaries where it impacts extensive damage to vegetation. Locusts do not attack humans. With millions of hectares of land currently under assault by billions of locusts in Africa, China, Pakistan, and India. This locust threatens to damage crops.
During the coronavirus pandemic, recently in Nepal, a swarm of locust about 60000-80000 numbers has entered some southern districts such as Sarlahi, Bara, and Rupandehi from the Indian state of Bihar. Locust swarms are likely to reach the western Nepal region with the wave of the air without causing significant crop damage in the places they moved through. This is the worst locust attack in nearly three decades in Nepal. This outbreak was previously was faced 60years ago around Kathmandu. In Nepal, the agriculture ministry has trained and mobilized the technical team for the outbreak of locust.

The locust attack has been bannered in most of Nepali newspapers.
